Becky G surprised fans with the announcement of her forthcoming studio album, Baraja Bendita, set for Aug. 14. If the new music she’s been releasing (“Marathon” and “EPA”) is any indication, she’s taking it back to “Becky from the Block.”
“I’ve spent years letting people meet Becky G first and let them figure out reBBeca later,” the Mexican-American artist shared in an Instagram post on Thursday (June 25). “This album stops explaining the difference, with the two B’s—both showing up & telling their truths—BB embraces it all.”
Baraja Bendita, which can loosely be translated as a “blessed deck of cards,” marks Becky’s fifth LP following Mala Santa (2019), Esquemas (2022), Esquinas (2023) and Encuentros (2024). Her last album went top 10 on Billboard‘s Top Regional Mexican Albums chart.
“These past two years spent creating this album have filled me with joy and pride. They gave me the time to better understand myself and my evolution,” she continued in the caption. “A lot of you have been here since the beginning, and I thank you for staying in the game with me for this long.”
On the social media post, where she also revealed the album cover, the artist said she’s been enjoying each of the tracks while listening to them repeatedly at the recording studio, her home and in her car. One of those singles is “Patrona” (patroness), an empowering, rhythmic, electronic tune with hues of perreo.
“‘BARAJA BENDITA’ is about choosing your own fate and owning your next move. I feel like I want to start showing my hand already!!!!” she concluded.
