Nickelodeon has declared July 14 “SpongeBob Day,” a new annual global celebration honoring SpongeBob SquarePants — and the rollout will include the first-ever music release from The Patrick Star Show.

The music launch begins July 9 with the single “Watch Out for That Rake,” followed by a full album, Patrick Star Superstar, which will be available for presale beginning July 14.

The new music component is part of a wider cross-platform celebration timed to SpongeBob SquarePants’ birthday within the animated series. The inaugural “SpongeBob Day” will also feature programming events, digital activations, gaming content, live fan experiences and new content tied to both SpongeBob SquarePants and The Patrick Star Show.

Tom Kenny, the longtime voice of SpongeBob SquarePants, will host a TikTok Live event on July 14 at 6 p.m. ET. The livestream will include behind-the-scenes commentary, three never-before-seen alternate endings of the classic episode “Shanghaied,” first looks at upcoming specials, including the hour-long SpongeBob SquarePants episode “Merry Christmas, Mr. Plankton” and The Patrick Star Show Halloween episode “Scary Tales,” as well as toy reveals and other surprises.

Nickelodeon will also launch The Patrick Star Official YouTube channel on July 14, featuring clips, shorts, compilations and live streams centered on characters from The Patrick Star Show and SpongeBob SquarePants.

The celebration extends into gaming, with new “SpongeBob Day” content launching inside SpongeBob SquarePants Tower Defense on Roblox. According to Nickelodeon, the game is the top-earning licensed/branded game of all time on the platform and has delivered more than 70 consecutive weeks of weekly updates.

On television, Nickelodeon will air a multiplatform programming event beginning July 14 at 2 p.m. ET/PT, with fan-favorite episodes scheduled on Nickelodeon, all-day marathons on Nicktoons and Nick Pluto, and a SpongeBob takeover on Nick.com.

“SpongeBob Day” will also be recognized at Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts locations in Punta Cana and Riviera Maya, as well as Nickelodeon Universe theme parks at Mall of America and American Dream. Global markets including Asia, Latin America, Germany and the U.K. are also expected to celebrate through localized programming, digital content, social campaigns and consumer marketing throughout July.

Ahead of Comic-Con International: San Diego 2026, SpongeBob SquarePants-inspired activations will open July 11 at The New Children’s Museum in downtown San Diego.

Created by Stephen Hillenburg, SpongeBob SquarePants premiered on July 17, 1999, and has since grown into one of Nickelodeon’s defining franchises, spanning theatrical films, consumer products, memes, games and a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical. According to Nickelodeon, the series has been seen in more than 180 markets, translated into more than 30 languages and averages more than 90 million total viewers every quarter.
